Ira Lamar Lee 11/12/2010

Sorry this are backward. But the first picture below still brings tears to my eyes:(

Alright, Here goes the birth story of our little Ira.

Thursday November 11, 2010. I went in for my 37 week appt. I was 37 weeks and 2 days at the time. My amazing Doc, Doc Jones (whom I LOVE) had agreed to induce me the Tuesday before Thanksgiving at 39 weeks. At the clinic I go to there our 3 women doc's so whoever is on call that day delivers you. I really felt comfortable with Doc Jones and wanted her. So I knew exactly what days she was on call and knew that I did not want to have a baby right before Thanksgiving, I wanted to enjoy my food, and not be in the Hospital. Ok back on track, Doc Jones was on call the day of my appt and then Sat and Sun as well, so that was the weekend I decided I was going to have a baby!

She did the check up and I had progressed from a 1 to a 3! I was so excited to hear that news, with Titan I was barely a one that day I was induced. So my plan was set fourth. I went and got a pedicure and then went and got some things at Wal - mart, and bought dinner to take home to Terry and Titan. I got to 3 way (35 min away) and started noticing that I was having contractions, thought nothing of it at first till I had 4 right in a row, I texted my friend Rachelle and said "oh my gosh I just had 4 contractions in a row" and she replied "your so in Labor" again I didn't want to get my hopes up so just kept driving away. I got into Clifton and had had 4 or 5 more by that time, I started speeding up Horse Shoe Curve and to my luck got pulled over going 60 in a 45. I started crying right away, the poor officer had no idea what he had gotten himself into, he let me go but not until he had asked 3 times if I wanted help. I said no I just want to go home and get my husband.

I got home cried to Terry about what had happened, and then sat down to enjoy some KFC, We then started timing my contraction and they were coming every 3 to 5 min. I called my doc and she said wait 45 more min and then head in. We started getting everything ready, My bags, Ira bags and got Titan in the car and we were headed off, Big thanks to Rachelle and my Mom for distracting me! We meet up our good friend and just married Katie and she was so nice to take Titan for us.

We headed in I got check and was still a 3 but they could see the contractions I was having on the monitor and said to go walk for and hour if I progressed to a 4 they would admit me if not I would have to go home. I WAS NOT going to go HOME. I walked for an hour strait never rested unless it was through a contractions I made Terry go out with me at 10 at night to curb walk with me. When we went back in I was a 4! Heck Yes! So I called my parents and they made there way up. Between 10 and 12:30 I had my water broke, progressed to a 6 and got my epidural(heaven heaven heaven) From about 1 till right before i started pushing at 7am I was throwing up every 30 min, it was no fun I was dizzy and in no mood to wait any longer, thankfully I only pushed through 3 contractions and out came Ira Lamar Lee. Weighing in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and 19 inches long. He had the perfect little dark skin and dark hair to go with it, Just like Titan did. After I was all fixed up I was still so sick and dizzy that I feel asleep for about an hour and didn't even hold Ira.

Finally I got up showered and cuddled my little Boy. My parents were so proud and I don't think I would have liked it any other way then to see the look on my dad's face when he held little Ira. My parents are so good with Titan and Ira.

It was about 3 hours later that they noticed that Ira was breathing very fast, so he was put in a oxygen tent from about 10 am till 5pm. It was so sad. He then went to have the tubes in his nose for the next 2 days at which time he was 72 hours and they had to air vac him to TMC. That was by far the scariest thing I have every been through, As soon as they started the process of getting him ready I lost it and had to stay in the Bathroom. We had my Mom and Titan meet us at the hospital and we dropped them off in Benson and headed to TMC.

Ira was in the TMC with 1 or 2 pound babies, and the whole time I felt like he shouldn't be in there. We walked in and he was just fine so we stayed with him for a couple hours and found out he could be there for a week! I lost it again. Terry really thought we would get there and they would say he was fine and we would go home. WRONG. They were having a shift change so all the parents of the babies had to leave, so Terry took me to Olive Garden for dinner and my parents joined us. We then went back to the NICU and Ira was of his oxygen!! That was so exciting he had to be off it for 24 hours with no problems in order to go home. we stayed with Ira till I was so tired and sore that we went to our hotel room and slept it off as best as we could. We got back the next morning and he was still off his oxygen! We stayed with him the whole day except when there was shift chances and had a couple lows that afternoon but they lasted for 5 or 10 secs, more like that sticker on his foot was picking up right. The next day they had Ira sit in his Car Seat to see if he had any problems in it for the length of time it would take us to get home. He did just fine and we were able to go HOME!

We picked up my Mom and Titan boy and made the trip home. I will never forget those 5 days. I truly witnessed the love of our Heavenly Father and am so grateful the Ira is ok. We go so many text and messages on Facebook letting us know that we were in prayers and thoughts and for that I am so Thankful and know that is why Ira was able to leave.

He Is doing great now! He is such a loud eater and has Poppy diapers all the time. Titan still would rather not have anything to do with him, but I'm sure with time with will get better. Thanks to my Mom for helping with Titan and staying with us the rest of the week. And to my husband Terry for taking a week off of work to help me adjust, and for calming me down and giving me hugs when I needed them. To our Ward and the people who brought us dinners, Thanks!

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. It is very scary and I'm glad he is doing so well. I can't believe you didn't let us know.

So so soooooo glad he is a-ok! I remember visiting little Lucy in the NICU and looking around at all the tiny premie babies and thinking "what are we doing in here!?"...in my wildest dreams I didn't think we'd end up in the NICU and I'm sure you didn't either. Glad he was home for Thanksgiving and glad he's growing and you are both doing well. We will have to try and meet up with you guys sometime so we can see each other's babies!

So sweet. I did laugh out loud, though, when I read the part about getting pulled over. That sucks! But really funny. Also, when you got home and cried to Terry and then sat down to eat your KFC. I sure do love you! Can't wait to see Ira!
